My daughter is nearly 8 and she is showing some serious entrepreneurial spark.
One week she wants to sell her old toys on eBay. The next she wants to start a YouTube channel teaching people how to draw. I never quite know what the next idea will be, but I love watching it happen.
And it got me thinking. The conversations I have been having with her feel just as relevant for the adults I work with.
So here is what I have told her. And honestly? I wish someone had told me this when I was starting out.
- Start with the smallest niche you genuinely care about.
Not the biggest opportunity. The one you could talk about for years without getting bored. Depth builds authority. Breadth just spreads you thin.
- Experiment without shame.
Your first offer will not be your last. Your first version will not be your best. That is not failure, that is how it works. Momentum comes from movement, not perfection.
- Get radically clear on one person.
Who are you here for? What are they thinking about at 2am? What do they feel stuck in? What is the one problem they desperately want solved? Authority is built on relevance, not credentials.
- Build a free community before you build a product.
Show up, ask questions, listen to what people are stuck on, and help solve their problems. You will be doing two things at once, building an audience and doing the research that makes your offer a no-brainer when you are ready to sell.
- Build relationships before you chase revenue.Trust compounds faster than any ad you will ever run. Community scales longer than tactics. And the money? It follows alignment every single time.
She is 8. She has time. But so do you, whatever stage you are at right now.
