Last week I got a broadcast email from someone I genuinely respect , a past client I helped build a very successful business three years ago. She was proudly showing off her new AI-redesigned website.
It was generic. Completely forgettable. Her personality the thing that helped people trust her and buy from her was nowhere.
If you are brand new in business, AI design is a gift. It gets you something decent without the cost or the time. its a way to test things out quickly
But if you have built a reputation, a point of view, a way of doing things that is distinctly yours, handing that to an algorithm is a shortcut straight to invisible.
Brand experience is the feeling someone gets when they see you posts, your website, It is what makes someone stay, trust you, and eventually buy. AI can make your page look tidy. It cannot make someone feel something.
Layout is not design. Design is strategy. And strategy is still, for now, a very human thing.
I think AI will do wonderful things for a lot of people. I also think it will keep a lot of people very mediocre.
